Topic video — how to make Reels without filming or showing your face

Type a topic or paste a link to someone's viral video — Craft writes the script, generates the scenes, adds a voiceover, and edits a Reel with subtitles.

Updated: October 25, 2026

“Topic video” makes a short video you don't have to film yourself: an AI generates the scenes, a narrator reads the text, and subtitles run at the bottom. It's the “What if…” and “How it actually works” genre that gets views through curiosity. You set the topic, edit the script, and get a finished 9:16 video for Reels, TikTok and Shorts.

How it works#

  1. You type a topic or paste a link to someone's viral reference video.
  2. Craft writes a scene-by-scene script: what the narrator says and what's on screen. This is free.
  3. You edit the text, choose the scene style, voice and model, and click “Build video”.
  4. Craft generates each scene, voices the text, adds the background sound if you chose one, and edits the video with subtitles and a headline on top.
  5. In 3–8 minutes the video is ready to download and publish.

What you need#

  • A paid plan or purchased credits.
  • Credits for building: the price is shown before you click. A 30-second video on the fastest model is about 46 credits.

Step 1. Open the tab#

Content Factory → Topic video tab → New video.

Step 2. Set the topic#

Describe the video in one sentence: “what would happen if all people disappeared for a day”. If there's a video you like, paste its link into “Reference video”: Craft reuses its hook and structure, while the topic stays yours.

Choose the length (15, 30, 45 or 60 seconds), the voiceover language and, if needed, a call to action at the end — for example, your funnel's keyword.

💡 In Inspiration, every video has a Make one like this button that opens this tab with the link already filled in.

Step 3. Choose the look#

  • Scene style — 3D animation, cinematic, anime, claymation, documentary, paper cut-out. One style for the whole video, so the scenes feel like one piece.
  • Narrator voice — three male and three female.
  • Scene model — the number next to a model is the credits per scene. A cheap model is fine for testing an idea; an expensive one gives a sharper picture.
  • Background sound — nature, city or ambient noise from the Craft library, or your own sounds (upload them in Trial Reels → Sounds). No background by default.
  • Headline on top — can be turned off.

Step 4. Edit the script#

Click “Write the script”. In about half a minute the scenes appear: on top, what the narrator says; below, what's on screen (in English — the model understands it better). You can rewrite, remove or add scenes. The price updates instantly.

⚠️ Long narration in one scene makes it more expensive: if the text doesn't fit a short clip, Craft uses a long one.

Step 5. Build the video#

Click “Build video” — credits are charged only at this moment. You can close the tab; building continues on its own. The finished video appears in My videos.

🔴 If a scene fails to generate twice or the build breaks, the video isn't built and the credits return to your balance in full.

From Claude or ChatGPT#

If you've connected Craft to Claude or ChatGPT, ask: “make a topic video about what would happen if the Moon disappeared”. The AI shows the script and price and builds the video only after your “yes”.

Not available yet#

  • One-step publishing: download the video and add it to a new post.
  • Your own narrator voice.
  • Editing a finished video: to change a scene, build a new video.

FAQ#

How much does a video cost?#

The scenes at the selected model's price plus 6 credits for voice, script and editing. A 30-second video on the fastest model is about 46 credits. The script is free.

Can I make a video based on someone else's?#

Yes: paste a link to a reference video. Craft takes its hook, pace and structure, but the text and scenes are new — it isn't a copy.

Why wasn't my video built?#

Most often the model refused to draw one of the scenes — rewrite its description more gently. Credits for an unbuilt video are refunded automatically.

Which languages can the narrator speak?#

English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Turkish and more — you choose the language before the script is written.
