Building a funnel — templates, the question wizard, and the arrows between blocks

How to start a new funnel, what the two outputs of a block with buttons actually do, and why a button's arrow must start from its blue dot.

Building a funnel#

When you create a new funnel, Craft asks where you want to start. There are three options.

Blank funnel#

An empty canvas with a single message block. Good if you already know how funnels work and want to assemble everything yourself.

A ready template#

Two templates cover the most common scenario — giving away material in exchange for a subscription:

Lead magnet for a subscription. The person taps a button, the bot checks the subscription to your channel (on Instagram — to your account) and delivers the material. Not subscribed — it asks them to subscribe and checks again once they tap "I subscribed". Anyone who never tapped gets a reminder after 20 minutes.

Lead magnet, no subscription. The shortest path: tap the button, get the material. The reminder for people who did not tap is there too.

After picking a template you can answer a few questions — what you give away, the link to it, the channel to check, the trigger keyword — and the funnel comes out already filled in. Any question can be skipped: press "I will fill it in myself" and the same funnel lands on the canvas with placeholders instead of your data.

A funnel is always created switched off. Nothing reaches your subscribers until you turn it on yourself, so you can review everything calmly.

Describe it — AI will build it#

Tell or dictate what funnel you need. The AI assembles the structure, shows it to you, and only puts it on the canvas after you confirm.

Two arrows on a block with buttons — and the difference#

This is where people get confused most often. A message block with buttons has two different outputs, and they do different things.

The blue dot on a button#

Leads to the step that runs when a person taps that exact button. If you want the "Get the guide" button to lead to the delivery step, drag the arrow from the blue dot on that button's row.

Every button has its own dot and its own branch. A link button has a dot too: on click you can, for example, tag the person.

The dot in the bottom-right corner of the block#

Leads to the step that runs right away, without waiting for a tap. The buttons stay alive: if the person taps later, they still go into that button's branch.

This is exactly how a follow-up for people who did not tap is built:

message with buttons → from the corner of the block → 20-minute delay → reminder

If you want the block to wait for a tap and not move on by itself, tick "Wait for a reply" in the block settings. Then the corner arrow means something else — the branch for when a person writes their own message instead of tapping.

How to check the wiring#

Open the funnel and look at where each arrow starts. If an arrow that was supposed to work "on tap" starts from the corner of the block, the person will get the next step immediately, before tapping anything. Drag it from the blue dot on the button instead.

The first time you open the builder, Craft shows this diagram once as a hint. After that it does not appear again.

Common questions#

The button does not trigger anything. Most likely the arrow starts from the corner of the block rather than from the button. Check where the arrow begins.

The next message arrives too early, before any tap. That is the "runs right away" output doing its job. If you do not need it, delete that arrow (hover over it and press the bin) or tick "Wait for a reply" in the block settings.

The button label got cut off. Instagram limits button labels to 20 characters, Telegram to 64. The character counter is shown on the button itself.
