AI carousels and publishing to Instagram, TikTok and Threads at once

How to make a carousel with AI in Craft — in Craft chat or in your own Claude and ChatGPT — and post it from one window to Instagram, TikTok and Threads. Sizes, caption limits and each network's pitfalls.

Updated: October 17, 2026

Short answer: in Craft, the AI makes the carousel — you write the topic in Craft chat or in your own Claude or ChatGPT, the AI suggests a style and headlines, writes the text, and Craft builds the slides itself. You post the finished carousel from the Publishing page to several Instagram, TikTok and Threads accounts at once — now or on a schedule.

Who this is for#

  • Creators and experts who post carousels in several networks and don't want to upload the same thing three times.
  • People who aren't designers: Craft handles styles, fonts, margins and text size.
  • People who already work in Claude or ChatGPT: through the MCP connector, the carousel is made and posted right from the conversation.

In Craft chat. Write "make a carousel about…". The chat shows matching styles as cards, suggests headlines and draws the slides right in the message. Edits are in words: "make the cover darker", "a different example on slide three". Details — Craft chat: what it can do.

In your own Claude or ChatGPT. Connect the MCP connector and ask for a carousel. The AI asks for a style and shows examples, you choose the topic and cover headline together, then it writes the text. Craft checks the text against the carousel rules and saves it to "My carousels".

What you can choose — in Carousel styles:

  • eight styles and ten ready-made designs; the cover of one style can go with the slides of another;
  • slide formats: tweet, chat, big number, checklist, before / after, chart and more;
  • any font from Google Fonts;
  • photos from your library, new images based on a reference, or frames from a video by link (frames are free).

Step 2. Pick a size for your networks#

One size for the whole carousel:

  • 4:5 and 1:1 — fit Instagram;
  • 3:4 — used by some ready-made designs;
  • 9:16 — vertical, for TikTok, stories and Threads.

Tell the AI: "make it a square carousel" or "vertical for TikTok". It fits the amount of text per slide to the size itself.

⚠️ Instagram accepts only 4:5 and 1:1 in a carousel. The AI will suggest posting a vertical 9:16 carousel to TikTok or Threads. If you want one carousel for all three networks, use 4:5 or 1:1.

Step 3. Post to several networks at once#

  1. Open Publishing and click "New post".
  2. Where. Tick the accounts. Nothing is selected in advance — the post goes only where you clicked.
  3. What. Add the slides — with two or more photos Craft knows it's a carousel.
  4. When. "Now" or "Schedule".
  5. Click "Publish". On the left of the window is a preview for each network.

Through your own AI it's even simpler: a carousel from "My carousels" just needs a "post it" from you. The slides go out in order exactly as in the preview; no need to download or upload images. Through the AI, posts go into the Instagram and TikTok calendar. More on the post window — Publishing.

What each network accepts#

  • Instagram — a carousel of 2+ photos or a video. Caption up to 2,200 characters, no more than 30 hashtags.
  • TikTok — a carousel or a video; you can write a separate text. The first caption line up to 90 characters becomes the title, the rest the description (up to 4,000 characters). TikTok picks the music itself; you can ask for no music.
  • Threads — text up to 500 characters, photos allowed. A reply in the thread — also up to 500.

🔴 TikTok: settings first. Fill in the TikTok settings in the post window before publishing — without them the "Publish" button won't work.

⚠️ A video slide — Instagram and Threads only. A video slide (up to 60 seconds) plays with sound in the published carousel, but a TikTok photo carousel doesn't accept video.

⚠️ An account turned pale — it doesn't accept what you added; the reason is written under its name. That account won't get the post, the others will. The bottom of the window always says what's blocking the post, e.g. "Threads: text up to 500 characters, now 640".

💡 The Publishing feed shows what went out: "Scheduled", "Publishing", "Published", "Failed". A failed post shows the reason and a "Retry" button.

What it costs#

Craft chat spends credits based on the AI's actual work: a typical carousel is 5–7 messages — about 5–10 credits on Haiku 5.5, about 30–40 on Sonnet 5. Editing slide text by clicking is free. Through the MCP connector your AI writes the text and Craft saves the carousel without spending credits; new images cost credits, and the AI states the price up front.

What's not there yet#

  • 9:16 in Instagram — Instagram doesn't accept this size in a carousel.
  • Video in a TikTok photo carousel.
  • Funnel keywords in TikTok — comment-triggered funnels work in Instagram, Telegram and VK.
  • Carousels on YouTube — only videos are posted there.

FAQ#

Yes. In "New post", tick all the accounts and the carousel goes to each. Use 4:5 or 1:1 so Instagram accepts it too.

Do I need to download the slides?#

No. A carousel made in Craft is posted straight from Craft. You can download PNGs if you want, but it isn't needed for publishing.

Can I schedule it?#

Yes, choose "Schedule". Scheduled posts appear in the "Upcoming" feed and in the calendar view.

Yes. Send the AI an image of the design — it picks the closest style, and you can save one you like as your own: "save as my style".

Most often the TikTok settings weren't filled in, or the carousel has a video slide. The reason is shown in the post window and on the post with the "Failed" status in the feed.
