Telegram bot broadcasts — how to send, edit and delete them
How to send a broadcast to your Telegram bot subscribers in Craft, test it on yourself, fix the text after sending and remove the message for everyone.
In short: in Craft you send a broadcast to your Telegram bot subscribers from Automations → Broadcasts with the "New broadcast" button. A broadcast that has already gone out can be edited for every recipient or removed from their chats — right from the broadcast report.
Who this is for#
- Experts and schools whose audience was collected by a funnel in a Telegram bot: a live stream announcement, a sales launch, a new lead magnet.
- Anyone who sent a broadcast with a typo or the wrong link and wants to fix it for thousands of people instead of sending a second one.
- Anyone who wants to see how many messages arrived and how many people tapped a button.
How to send a broadcast#
- Open Automations → Broadcasts and click "New broadcast".
- On the "Message" step, write the text. In the "Buttons" block, keep "Inline buttons" if you need link buttons.
- For each button, pick "With stats" or "Direct". With stats, Craft counts taps, but the link opens through a Craft page in Telegram's built-in browser. Direct, a link to a bot or channel opens instantly in Telegram, but taps aren't visible. Details: Link button in a broadcast.
- A button can lead to a specific step of your funnel: under the button click "Funnel step", choose the funnel and the step or "From the start".
- On the "Review and send" step, send a test to yourself, check the text and links — then send.
💡 Yourself first. The most reliable check is to send the broadcast to a small segment, for example a tag that contains only you, and tap the buttons in Telegram.
⚠️ The test send always arrives with direct links, whatever button mode you chose. The test shows where a button leads, but not how a "With stats" button opens.
⚠️ A disabled funnel doesn't start from a link. If a button points to a step of a disabled funnel, Craft warns you — turn it on before sending.
💡 A subscriber's reply to a broadcast — even "thanks" — doesn't start or restart a funnel. Funnels start only with /start, a link or a keyword (more).
How to edit or delete a sent broadcast#
- In Automations → Broadcasts, click the broadcast — its report opens.
- At the bottom, in the "Sent message" block, click ✎ Edit (change the text) or 🗑 Delete for everyone (remove the message from chats).
- Confirm. A progress bar appears, e.g. "Changing text for recipients — 1,240 of 5,181". You can close the window — the work runs on the server.
Editing and deleting take longer than sending: 500 people — under a minute, 5,000 — 3–7 minutes, 15,000 — 10–20 minutes. While it runs there's a "Stop" button; messages already processed are not rolled back. All the details: Edit or delete a broadcast you've already sent.
🔴 A bot can delete its messages only within 48 hours. That's a Telegram rule. If the broadcast is older than two days, some recipients will keep the message. Editing text has no time limit.
🔴 The cross in the broadcast list deletes only the record and its report. People keep the messages. To remove them from chats, first click "Delete for everyone" in the report.
⚠️ Photos and videos in a sent message can't be replaced — only the text or caption. Need a different image? Delete for everyone and send again.
⚠️ Text length: up to 4,096 characters for a plain message, up to 1,024 for a photo or video caption. Craft won't save longer text and tells you how much to cut.
💡 Don't press the button twice. If an operation is already running, a second one won't start — Craft shows how much is done.
Where to see the results#
- The broadcast report — how many were delivered and how many people tapped "With stats" buttons. If every button was direct, the report says plainly that taps weren't counted.
- Statistics → Broadcasts — how many messages went out, how many never arrived and how many people followed the link. "Never arrived" is mostly people who blocked the bot (statistics page).
Broadcasts from an AI chat#
You can manage broadcasts from Claude or ChatGPT through the MCP connector: draft, test to yourself, send to the whole base, a tag or a source. Before sending, the AI names the exact number of recipients and waits for your "yes" (more).
Not there yet#
- Broadcasts to Telegram Business chats. A client who talks to you only in private messages won't get a broadcast (more).
- The "Article" view in broadcasts — a broadcast goes out as a regular message.
- Deleting a broadcast for everyone through the AI connector — you can edit the text there, but deleting is only in the interface.
- Changing button mode on a sent broadcast — editing changes only the text.
- Deleting messages older than 48 hours — Telegram forbids it.
FAQ#
Can I fix a typo in a broadcast that has already gone out?#
Yes. Open the broadcast report and click "Edit" — Craft changes the text for every recipient. There's no time limit for editing.
How do I delete a broadcast for all subscribers?#
In the broadcast report, click "Delete for everyone". Telegram lets a bot delete its own messages only within 48 hours of sending.
Why did some messages "never arrive"?#
Most often those people blocked the bot or deleted the chat with it — Telegram doesn't accept such messages. Craft shows the reason in the operation result.
Can I send a broadcast to VK community subscribers?#
Yes, if the community is connected to Craft. A community can message first only those who wrote to it, and Craft adds an "Unsubscribe from broadcasts" button to every such broadcast (more).
Why does the broadcast button open a browser instead of Telegram?#
The button is set to "With stats". Choose "Direct" — the link opens straight in Telegram, but taps won't be counted.
